I've seen and heard the argument that an atheist or rational worldview requires the same kind of faith as a theist worldview. The premise being, as far as I can tell, that we don't know what came before or led to the creation of the universe, therefore we rely on a faith in the idea that it wasn't created by a divine being...
But, it seems to me that the fatal flaw in the theist perspective is that they rely on a rational worldview just as a non-theist does. They trust reason and predictability in their everyday lives. When driving a car, they trust that pressure applied to the brake will bring the car to a halt, not god, for instance.
We all rely on reason in our everyday lives. We all draw logical conclusions from facts. We all make a presumption that the world will continue to operate in the way that it has operated in our experience. We rely on the fundamental processes of space, time, and causality.
This means, if we are logical about it, that those who believe in God actually live their lives to a great extent by the same beliefs and principles as those who don't believe in God. And when a believer uses reason and logic, they use it because it is sensible and predictable, not because it comes from God. So, for a believer to attack a non-theist perspective as faith-based, is, quite frankly, hogwash.
